After devastating Puerto Rico with flooding rain, Hurricane Fiona ripped through the Dominican Republic, where more than a million people were left without running water and dozens of homes were destroyed.

Premiumaid Foundation is monitoring the hurricane closely and ready to support the government and local organizations.

Help Children in Dominican Republic

Premiumaid Foundation’s work in Dominican Republic is aimed at improving education, access to school supplies and recreational facilities. But before children can learn, they must be healthy and thriving. Dominican children lack access to healthcare, proper nutrition and general hygiene.

Our Work for Children in Dominican Republic

Because water is a basic staple, Premiumaid Foundation’s health teams have been providing potable water and promoting health and hygiene – in addition to crop planting and cultivation, and animal breeding. Plus, we have worked to introduce school, home and community-based fruit and vegetable gardens, helping to educate families on growing their own food, to achieve better nutrition.

Premiumaid Foundation’s protection workers have been helping the vulnerable Batey Communities for nearly a decade. The project’s goal was to improve the living conditions of “the Bateys” former sugar cane work camps, which are home to Haitian migrant workers, Dominicans and their families.

The project focused on health, education services, and income-generating activities. Improvements included refurbishing schools, enhancing teachers’ knowledge, revamping sanitary infrastructure, and other projects dedicated to raising living standards and promoting sustainable development.

  • Protected 1,665 children from harm
  • Supported 3,765 children in times of crisis
  • Provided 27,318 children with a healthy start in life
